Fly-fishing Bondieu's beloved Fuller Brook is one of the highlights of your Glendorn experience. From novice to experienced anglers, our ORVIS Endorsed Guides can enhance your technique or start you on a life long love affair with fly-fishing.
Special fishing packages for April
As the temperature begins to warm and the trees start to bud, April begins the annual tradition of trout season in Pennsylvania. There is no better way to fish for trout than on the exclusivity of a private trout stream or lakes leaping with trout. Let Glendorn be your traditional season opener. Our staff of guides is ready to host your group's trout journey during a two-night stay in the month of April. Enjoy an early continental breakfast, cooked shore lunches and settle in for the evening's three course dinner. This package is for groups of 2 - 8 guests, and accommodations are either in the Guest House, Loft, or Jill's Cabin. Itineraries can be customized depending on your skill level. $275.00 per person per night which includes daily meals. Guided fishing fees as well as tax and service are additional.
Castaway at Glendorn
(Available April and May mid-week)
During your stay, learn the basics of fly casting and fly fishing from an ORVIS endorsed guide. You will practice the art of fly casting one afternoon under the private instruction of your guide and spend one morning and afternoon learning the basics to catch trout on our private stream, Fuller Brook. Includes the use of ORVIS equipment each day. $300.00 plus accommodation.
Steelhead
Seasonal steelhead opportunities exist for the fly angler October through April. Steelhead fishing is beginner friendly for casting. The challenge for steelhead is landing the fish. Average Lake Erie steelheads start at around 24" with daily hook ups of 10-30 fish. Quite often, lake run brown trout and Coho salmon are caught mixed in with the steelhead.fishing magazines have christened this fishery Steelhead Alley.
Trout Fishing Expeditions
Glendorn's Orvis Endorsed fishing guides host daily fly fishing trout trips off Glendorn's property to many of the Allegheny National Forest's area streams. These trips are walk/wade trips. Walk in access trout trips provide the angler with the best fishing opportunities in April, May and June. Native Brook Trout hike-in trips have a longer season starting in April and running well through September. Contact our activities director, Damon Newpher to arrange a trip to fit your desires.
Scenic Drift Boat Trips
Just a short drive from Glendorn is the nationally recognized, Allegheny River. You can ride in comfort in one of our Clakacraft Drift Boats as you float with a guide down the scenic six and a half mile section of the Allegheny tail- water, below the Kinzua Dam. On your float you can see eagle, ducks, the elusive black bear and a wide array of other birds and wildlife. You can also fly fish the Allegheny for trout, summer pike and smallmouth bass. Water level depending, we will also float the Clarion River or the Tionesta. Both are also nationally recognized as scenic floats. During these day trips your river guide will set up and cook a gourmet shore lunch on a secluded river island.
Glendorn Private Access Fly Fishing
The 1280 Acres of Glendorn is home to a crystal gem of a cold running stream. Fuller Brook offers the fly fisher nearly three miles of privately managed trout stream. Annual hatches and beginner friendly fishing offer the best of both worlds for experienced as well as novice fly fishers. Also at Glendorn are three trophy trout ponds with all the challenges of stillwater angling.
Float Tubing Bondieu Lake
What adds more pleasure to fly fishing than catching fish in streams? Catching fish while floating weightlessly above the water level in an Orvis Daytripper Float Tube at the cold and scenic Bondieu Lake. Experience fly-fishing in your own self propelled, float tube with the aid of Glendorn's Orvis Endorsed Guide pro staff. Float tubes help position you in the best locations to hook, catch and release trout. Tubing gives you a satisfaction all its own in the world of fly fishing. Warning: once you try to float tubing you may be hooked for life. |
