| Property Description |
The Douglas House - North Branch Outing Club was established by T.E. Douglas after he realized his lumber business was on the decline. Douglas started promoting fly fishing on the North Branch to prominent anglers of the time. Men and women anglers came from around the world to fish the North Branch of the AuSable. NBOC had members and guests such as Henry & Edsel Ford, Harvey Firestone, The Dodge Brothers, and Charles Nash. Because of this rich fly fishing history the State of Michigan in 2001 designated NBOC as a state historic site.
The State of Michigan was so impressed with the historical significance of the North Branch Outing Club that it nominated this historical landmark to be considered as a National Historic Site. In July 2002 the US. Department of Interior approved this designation and today NBOC is on the register of Historic Places.

Hunting:
Upland bird hunting
Upland bird hunting is available, with Ruffed Grouse and Woodcock plentiful in the North Branch area. Hunting dogs are welcome.
Waterfowl Hunting
Whether you're interested in big water hunting, river floats or marsh hunting - our experienced guides will make your waterfowl hunt a success. And we'll supply everything you need: duck boats, blinds, decoys, even well-trained retrievers!
Deer Hunting
With acres of state hunting land adjacent to our property, the Outing Club will once again be a prime destination for deer hunters, just as it was during the early years.
Fishing:
The North Branch Outing Club offers world class fly fishing and guide services in the unique Au Sable riverboat. Choose from many of the nearby trout streams such as the famous Au Sable or Manistee.
Since its beginning, the North Branch Outing Club has provided experienced guides that will take you to the fish and give you an unforgettable fly fishing adventure. We offer wading, float trips, and can accommodate any skill level fly fisher. Fly casting, fly fishing, and fly tying instruction is also available.
