Property Description
Deerhorn Lodge is a family-owned and operated business. It is located on beautiful Attitti Lake in Northeastern Saskatchewan, forty miles northwest of Flin Flon and twenty miles west of the Manitoba border. Flin Flon can be reached by commercial airliners through Winnipeg and by vehicle via Highway 10 in Manitoba.

We offer fly-in trophy fishing, hunting, and wildlife on more than 625 square miles of Canadian wilderness.

Over the years Attitti and the surrounding eleven other lakes we fish have received very little fishing or hunting pressure. Keeping with our current policies towards catch and release and conservation, we will manage the natural resources in such a way as to keep it great for years to come.

Year In Review
Well, our first season at Deerhorn Lodge in northern Saskatchewan has ended. The year was a definite success. We arrived at the lodge just after ice out and there were still patches of ice here and there floating around on the main lake. The year started off with the spring bear hunt. The hunters for our inaugural season were highly successful, with all of the guests taking their bear before the end of the weeklong hunt. The hunters were great guys and they enjoyed their stay. After the hunting the attention turned toward fishing. At Deerhorn we fish eight to ten different lakes that provide excellent fishing action for three different species of fish at all time of the season. (Four different species if you catch a trophy whitefish like Tom Pryce did.) The lake trout were still in the shallows at this time of year and provided non-stop action in the first few weeks of June. Spring Pike action got heated up right away with the Dave Nations party catching a few northerns in the trophy size range on their last day after a lake trout dominated week. The following week the fly fishermen in the Calcaterra party were not disappointed being able to catch large stealthy pike in the shallows on their fly rods and had a ball doing it.

There were so many great groups that arrived at the lodge and left again much too quickly. The atmosphere at the lodge is very cozy and relaxed, where our guests can feel at home and get to know everybody. Our guests last year fell in love with the lodge and the beautiful unique lakes instantly. Four or five days are not even long enough to explore all the lakes or the surrounding area. Many guests are already planning their return trips to fish the lakes they missed the first time or to explore another part of the lakes they already fished.

Some weeks one large party would book the entire camp. Deerhorn is very well suited for that type of arrangement. One such party was the group brought in by Dave Frauenshuh who provided interesting and exciting events both on and off of the water. This party of eight caught four trophy walleye and a lot of pike, two of them being trophy size.

One thing that our guides discovered to their ultimate satisfaction was the absolutely awesome walleye opportunities that we have at Deerhorn, not just in number but in size, with trophy fish consistently being recorded, especially on Galbraith and Mukoman Lake. Mukoman Lake is a hidden jewel for sure that provided hours of entertainment for our fishermen. It is our fly-out lake located the furthest away and least accessible to get to from the lodge. The fishing there is truly something different, it is a walleye dominated lake but you won't catch many fish using conventional techniques. These walleyes act like northern pike!! Fishing weed beds with an in line spinner or any other flashy lure proved to be the most consistent of all techniques. There was days when we would get in to schools of 24-26 inch walleye and experience the absolute carnage that these fish must go through on a daily basis, they were so aggressive. Northern Pike fishermen were never disappointed with this lake either catching walleyes while fishing for northern and every once in a while meeting up with a rather large fresh water shark. Curt Geen caught a 42-inch hog that tipped the scales at 25 pounds!

There were just so many adventures to be had this year and we have only begun to describe them to you, the year was so memorable that it would have been impossible to narrow down one event or group highlight. We hope to see you all next year as well as more new faces with many more adventures and memories still to come.
